Barbara Spitzer

was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, and studied opera and operetta at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität. For the most part she performs as a typical Viennese coloratura-soubrette in numerous operettas; including Adele (“Die Fledermaus”), Hortense (“Der Opernball”), Arsena (“Der Zigeunerbaron”), Pepi (“Wiener Blut”), and many others. Further opera engagements have taken Barbara Spitzer to the Opera Festival in St. Margarethen in the role of Papagena (“Die Zauberflöte”), to Germany and Switzerland as Gretchen (“Der Wildschütz”) and back to Vienna as Lucilla in “La scala di Seta”.
