Ivo Michl

has studied singing since an early age at the Antonín Dvořák’s Music School in Lipník nad Bečvou, where he twice won the first price in his category in the National Music Schools Competition. In 2003 he graduated with an MA from the Music Faculty at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he studied with Miloslav Podskalský and Magdalena Hajóssyová. He won second price in younger category in Emma Destin’s International Singing Competition in České Budějovice (in 2001, first price was not awarded). Currently he is attending master courses of Eva Randová and vocal lessons of Kazimierz Myrlak.
He is focusing on the interpretation of baroque music and he also enjoys performing contemporary pieces. He performs with diverse musical ensembles such as Capella Regia, Hofmusici and Silent Opera. He is member of international opera group SONORI Ensamble, recently performing many different projects as Mozartiada, Musica Slavica, Operetta Gala or Opera in Love in many cities of Poland. He appeared in Smolka’s Nagano and Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at the National Theatre in Prague and in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri at National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, he also performed as a soloist at the Piccola Opera in Vienna in Mozart’s La Finta semplice and Rossini’s La Scala di seta. Presently he is appearing in Haydn’s Il Mondo della Luna or Shuklina’s Stabat Mater.
