Leszek Solarski

studied at the Academy of Music in Cracow, Faculty of Vocal and Acting, in the singing class of Dr Jacek Ozimkowski, and also at HfMDK Frankfurt am Main, in prof. Berthold Possemeyer’s class. His solo debut (2004) was a bass role in Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Seven Gates of Jerusalem”, which was recorded and released under the Dux label. He participated in numerous festivals, workshops and competitions, among others: The Junge Künstler Festival in Bayreuth, Opera Oder Spree in Frankfurt, was the finalist of the Slavic Music Competition in Katowice, and at the Golden Voices Competition in 2015 he won the prize for the best performance of contemporary song.

At the beginning of his career he was strongly involved in the field of contemporary music, which allowed him to take part in Peter Eötvös’ “Angels in America” (2009) and thus to debut on the opera stage in Frankfurt am Main. He co-created the first-ever performance of P. Schäffer’s “Eine Kapitulation” at the festival in Bayreuth (2010). In 2011 he debuted at the National Opera in Warsaw with a part of Jesus in the W. Rihm’s opera “Jakob Lenz”.

In the years 2012-2016 he performed among others: at the opera festival in Bad Hersfeld as Leporello in the opera “Don Giovanni" by W. A. Mozart (2012) and as Zuniga in G. Bizet’s “Carmen” (2013). He reprised the role of Leporello, at the opera festival - Klasik Festival Schloss Kirchstetten (2014) (Austria). For the first time, he played the role of Stolnik from S. Moniuszko’s opera “Halka” (2015) on the concert performance of the opera in Budapest. In 2016, he performed the title role in Don Pasquale opera by G. Donizetti (Klasik Festival Schloss Kirchstetten, Austria).

In addition to the opera performances, he actively performs at various concerts, co-creates plays and educational concerts for children with the K. Szymanowski’s Philharmonic in Krakow. Together with the pianist, PrzemysÅ‚aw Winnicki he created the classical music comedy project “Opera to go”.
